Hello! 

 

I have decided to make a difference by taking part in The Color Run and raise money for Arthiritis Australia.

 

In short, a couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthiritis in both my feet at age 29, a condition that causes inflammation of the joints. It causes the joints to become painful, stiff and often swollen. I couldn't physically walk for 16 months leading up to my diagnosis and have spent the last couple of years trying to find the right medication to help me be able to live my life. I am now on a very strong biologic once a month and although this has helped me walk a lot more over the past year, I still very much have my limits on a daily basis. Along with the physical burdens of this debilitating illness including chronic fatigue and fibromalgyia, there have been many mental battles to fight through along the way but I am more determined than ever to kick this chronic illness in the butt and get my life back. 

 

So I have decided to do the Color Run 2018 in Melbourne. I am doing this to prove to myself I can push through those limits and hopefully provide hope and encouragement for those struggling with the same or any other chronic illness.  

 

Arthiritis Australia provides support and information to people with arthritis as well as their families and friends, they promote awareness of the challenges facing people with arthritis across the community, and to leaders in business, industry, and government.They fund research into potential causes and possible cures as well as better ways to live with arthritis and aims to keep health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists and community nurses informed.
